David Knight-spec Acerbis handguards ordered. A must after talking to a mate who just broke his hand after riding into a tree with no guards! Crunchy.

KTM 450 EXC
The first meeting of the WoPEC (Woof and Potski enduro club) takes place at a green lane not to be named this Saturday. We’re planning a really hardcore day to break in my new 450 KTM gently. Reckon we’ll start with bacon sandwiches at mine, ride to Oundle for coffee, do a slight bit of green laning and back to the pub for lunch. Reckon we’ve got to break ourselves and the bike...

We just put the finishing touches to our new Rossi book. It’s on sale now in WH Smith and features our feature on riding with Rossi at the TT, and his incredible 100th MotoGP win at Catalunya.

Honda DN-01
Test rode a Honda DN-01 at lunchtime for the first time since the bike’s rain-lashed launch in Italy last year. It’s a fascinating bike with bags of technology, thumb shift gearchange, human friendly transmission and wacky Judge Dredd styling. But at £10,000 there’s few people who are going to buy it. As a motorcyclist it’s plain dull, but with a new rider hat on it’s...

Honda FireBlade sold...
I have a sense of feeling slightly gutted about selling my 1992 Blade, but it’s also mixed with elation as I can now sort out my overdraft and make the payments required for the decorators, house movers and mortgage for our beautiful new house! The guy who bought it was made-up, and so he should be, Paul has got one of the finest originbal condition 1992 Blades on the road today. And I know...

Love my top box
Went sans top box this morning and the old GS Adventure felt lithe and agile. Well, as light and agile as a 256kg fully-fuelled bike made of iron girders could be. The thing weighs about 5 kilos when bolted on to the back so it definitely affects the handling. But more than that it’s a lot more stable over the first of two hump back bridges on my way to work and jumps flatter. Just hope it...

Chest protectors - pointless or protective
Life-saving technology for 2009, or the stuff test riders wear because they get them supplied free and Casey Stoner wears one? Discuss…

Desmo day
Rode a Desmosedici RR for the first time at Donington Park yesterday, and it was more like riding in a one-make championship. As rich blokes prepared to ride their £42k motorbikes around Donington Park, I sneaked a ride on one owned by Ducati Wolverhampton. I’ve ridden more powerful road bikes, but none with the chassis, feel and agility of this. Cliche? But yeah, like riding a race bike....

Rossi bin stickers
We all laughed when retired 40-something multi-millionaire and track day king Simon at Motrax launched stick-on pig ears for your helmet, so I’m less inclined to laugh at Double Red James Wright’s new thought. He’s making wheelie bin stickers for motorcyclists, and as a man who lives at number 7, but has 34 on my bin in honour of Schwantz, I reckon he’s onto something. Bin...

Get Cal to WSB
Anyone watch Crutchlow on Sunday? He rode his pants off and was once again putting in times that would have seen him midfield in the WSB race. Please, somebody offer him a factory bike in WSB. Watch out Sykes, your old mate could be coming after your ride.

Leg Dragging is the new knee down
DANGLING legs on the way into corners is the new knee down. It is. Or at least that’s what I thought the other day when I went out for a ride on a KTM RC8-R, and a mate talked his way into borrowing an Aprilia RSV-4. Figuring that if Rossi didn’t know why he dangled his leg on the way in to corners, and buoyed by the fact that I just rode with him at the TT, where he went for hanging off rather...
